Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Hands down the best sandwich and probably the best meal I've had in Montreal in all of 2025. I can't remember the name of my sandwich but it was the one with a chicken cutlet on it, and my girlfriend had the parma. The chicken on mine was done to perfection - crispy, moist, and full of flavor. The cold cuts on hers and the cheese couldn't have been better. Both sandwiches were out of this world good and for once in Montreal we got more than what we paid for instead of feeling robbed by the price. Most places charge more for a smaller and less delicious sandwich. I am a customer for life here and will refer as many people as I can."
"Forget your usual lunch spot. This is a game-changer! La scacciata is a family-run Sicilian joint that feels like it was teleported straight from Italy. The food is just... honest-to-god incredible. The star is the bread they use for their sandwiches, the "scacciata." It's this magical focaccia-like bread that’s crispy on the outside but soft and airy inside. Whatever they pile in between it—whether it’s the perfectly crispy Milanese or the legendary porchetta—is ridiculously fresh and flavorful. Don't even look at the menu too hard. Just walk up and ask them what's good today. Trust them completely. You'll end up with the best sandwich you've had in a long, long time. And if they have arancini available, get one. Don't think, just do it. This is the kind of place you'll find yourself making excuses to go back to. It’s not just lunch, it’s a whole mood. You'll leave happy, I promise."
"The sandwiches are top notch and I’d definitely go back for another. The coffee is a bit of a miss as it’s a bit too acidic for my taste."
"Amazing place! Pizza is awesome but the sandwich was out of this world! Definitely coming back for the porcheta sandwich!"
"The owner John is a Beauty… his uncle is even better! The food is delicious and the service is 10/10. Great spot, great people and a the best sandwhiches and arancini! Ask them for the stuffed peppers, a real Italian classic! Highly recommend"
"The sandwich was fresh and delicious. The staff was warm and friendly. Definitely recommend this place!"
"As my first time in Montreal, I was visiting for a concert with a friend and this place was one of the ones in walking distance to the theater. Clean with a good atmosphere and plenty of seating as it wasn't very busy. INCREADIBLE sandwiches made in house, with the kitchen making the bread by scratch in the back. Definitely could not complain about the food for sure. Super yummy and a great place to sit and relax"
"Found this place online and decided to try it out. WOW did we make a good choice. The food is so fresh and so delicious. MUST TRY. They also let me know they have a terrace where I can enjoy my sandwich with my pup in the summer. We tried the Milanese, Bologna and Agrigento. All so yummy. Thanks! We will be back"
